Western Elegance

One of the most influential people in my life, my grandma, recently had a birthday. The whole family traveled miles to gather in one very large house (thanks uncle mike) in Arizona and stay the weekend and celebrate. There were games, activities and lots of laughs. It truly was a time to remember. With western being the theme, I wanted to create a cake that not only went along with the theme, but screamed what my Grandmother is to me, elegant and beautiful. I ended up with a three-tiered cake covered in white fondant, a gold cowboy rope surrounded the top and bottom tiers and three ‘country or wild’ hand made sugar flowers placed beautifully on the second tier. Here are some pictures of the cake that literally brought tears to my Grandmother’s eyes… enjoy 🙂

Red, White, and Beautiful

In honor of West Heritage Elementary School becoming a California Distinguished School, I made a stars and stripes dessert bar for the teachers and staff to enjoy.  With the school colors of red, white and blue and an eagle as there  mascot, I felt it only appropriate to make this dessert bar scream patriotism. From cookies n’ cream cake pops, to mini vanilla bean cheesecakes, this dessert bar made fireworks fly.

CIF Champions

This cake was inspired by the Bonita High School Men’s Water Polo Team. It was just a short time ago, in the fall of 2011 that they fought the battle and came out victorious and CIF Champions. For Austin’s birthday, his mother wanted to relive that joyous day. It was decided that a larger than life replica of the ring would be the crown of the cake. So here’s to you Austin, Happy Birthday and Congratulations.

Over this past year I have had the wonderful opportunity to work as a cake decorator at Sweet and Saucy Shop located in Long Beach, California, under the guidance of Melody Brandon. It is there that I have learned so much about the art of cake decorating and many tricks of the trade. This is a selection of some of the cakes I have decorated in my time there so far.

It’s a Jungle Out There

I had so much fun doing this cake for MyKenzie’s 3rd Birthday. The cute elephant, lion, monkey, and zebra are all made out of fondant. The cake is 5 layers of vanilla cake filled with bavarian cream and fresh strawberries. It is as yummy as it is cute.

Valentine’s Day Goodies

I guess posting these sweet treats for Valentine’s Day a little late is better than never posting them at all. To help celebrate a day all about Love, I did a wide variety of desserts like chocolates, cake pops, cookies, cookies gift baskets, and chocolate covered strawberries. Ordered by the dozen or in gift boxes, these desserts stole everyone’s heart this Valentine’s Day.
